Care of your furniture
Your piece of furniture has been individually handcrafted by skilled craftsmen at Mr Jones Furniture & Restorations using traditional methods to ensure it lasts for generations. Because timber is a natural product it may appear to have slight imperfections. This is part of he character of your unique piece. All the timbers we use are renowned for their durability, strength, character and grain.
Our furniture is stained, sealed and top coated for protection then hand waxed for finishing to enhance its character, resulting in a hard wearing surface.
Our dining tables have a special 2 pot spray finish applied to the surface for extra protection making the surface moisture and heat resistant.
Your furniture has an easy care finish that generally only requires day to day dusting. From time to time your furniture will need re-waxing to enhance the colour and provide a protective finish. We advise this at least twice a year - before going into winter and then again at the beginning of spring. Using a clean cloth or sponge, apply a liberal amount of good wax polish and rub vigorously into the timber (going with the grain of the timber). Using a second cloth, wipe away the excess wax and with a third clean lint free cloth, polish and buff the furniture.
Please do not use a silicon based wax or polish as over time a sticky build up will appear. A clean damp cloth is best for everyday cleaning. Do not use your dish cloth from the kitchen sink as it has detergents in it which will cause the surface to break down over time.
If you are unsure which wax to use, please contact us and we will advise you.
We fully guarantee our furniture against any fault in workmanship.
